Founder and Local Playwright
Ms. Welch is a native of Palestine Texas. She graduated from high school at the age of (16) sixteen. She moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston Downtown to major in Drama. Later she moved to California to attend the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena California. After returning back to Houston, she later married Raymond Anthony Welch Sr. and unfortunately after the untimely death of her husband she returned back to college where she received her Associate Degree in Arts from Houston Community College and later she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Houston Downtown. Ms. Welch self-published her first book “Mixed Drinks” a book of poetry, focusing on diverse issues in today’s society. Her poem titled “X” featured in “Mixed Drinks” won an Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry presented by The National Library of Poetry. Her poem titled “If God Needed Us,” which was also a part of “Mixed Drinks”, won an Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry as well presented by The International Library of Poetry. Ms. Welch is also a proud mother of two sons, Raymond Anthony Welch Jr. and Keenya Lamar Smith Jr. who keeps her spirit up lifted due to the many talents that God has blessed them with.
Her works are The Stage Play “Trophy” first presented February 19, 2006 at the Cullen Performance Hall, The Gospel Stage Play "Tell God I’m Looking for Him" first presented August 18-20, 2006 at the Mid Town Art Center and The Gospel Stage Play "Enemies" first presented October 20 & 21, 2007 at the Heinen Theatre. Now she presents this year 2009, The Inspirational Stage Play "An Interview W/God." |
